OPEN YOUR EYES
The Tree People

“Open Your Eyes to See the Tree People”
They stand in silence – the great watchers of our world. The Tree Nations.
Each one an ancient being, breathing life into our planet, holding the soil, shaping the air, whispering wisdom through their leaves.
Every tree, from the smallest sapling to the towering giant, has purpose. They are the lungs of the Earth, the shelter for the wild, the gentle arms that cradle us in ways we’ve forgotten to notice. Beneath the surface, their roots intertwine, holding the land together, protecting rivers from washing away, feeding the soil that feeds the world.
Some of us hug trees because we need to feel something alive and kind. Others hug them because they know – deep within – that trees have hearts. That they too are life, consciousness, beauty, and breath.
Yet the forests are falling. The jungles are thinning. The coastal woodlands are dying under the weight of human greed and indifference. Every tree lost is a heartbeat silenced, a home erased, a future diminished.
It is time to open our eyes – truly open them – and see The Tree People as they are: sentient, sacred, essential. A planet without green is a planet lost.

Open Your Eyes to See the Tree People: The Green Nations of Our Earth
A Conservation Conversation by Petro Diamant – Artist | Earth Ambassador | Wildlife Advocate
Introduction: The Living Beings We Call Trees
When I walk through a forest, I don’t see timber or resources. I see faces. I see arms reaching toward the sun, hands intertwined beneath the soil, and hearts that beat in rhythm with the Earth’s pulse. These are the Tree People – the quiet tall guardians of all life.
Each tree is a masterpiece of purpose. Every leaf is unique in its design, every bark texture a story, every seed a promise. Together, they form the great lungs and veins of our planet. They breathe life into the air we share, protect the ground we stand on, and hold our fragile ecosystems in balance.
We often forget that without trees, there is no rain, no fertile soil, no stable climate, no song of birds at dawn. We forget, until it’s too late.
The Sacred Work of the Roots
Below the ground, unseen but essential, lies The Tree People’s secret world, their vast network of roots. These roots do not simply anchor the tree; they speak, share, and nurture. Scientists call it the “Wood Wide Web,” but I call it kinship.
Roots intertwine and exchange nutrients, warnings, and messages, they are the Earth’s neural pathways. They hold the soil in place, prevent erosion, and keep rivers from clouding with silt. Without them, the ground crumbles, and life unravels.
Every root system is a sacred connection in the tapestry of life. When we cut them away, we tear at the very fabric that sustains us all.
The Tragedy of Falling Forests
From tropical jungles to coastal forests, from mangroves to mistbelt woodlands, the Tree Nations are vanishing. Bulldozers bite through roots that took centuries to grow. Fires rage where rainforests once thrived. Habitat loss, logging, and reckless development consume what can never be replaced.
Each fallen tree is not just wood, it is a home lost, a microcosm of life extinguished. It is a thousand species displaced, a climate destabilised, a wound carved into the heart of the planet.
The greed of mankind may one day leave us with empty skies and barren soil. And when the last tree falls, the last breath will follow.
Seeing with the Heart, Not Just the Eyes
Perhaps that is why some of us hug trees, not out of whimsy, but out of reverence. When we place our hands upon their bark, we feel the essence of something ancient, steady, and wise.
Maybe we hug them to thank them. Maybe we hug them because, in their presence, we remember who we are.
The Tree People are healers. They clean the air, call the rain, cool the Earth, and cradle every living creature in their shade. And in return, they ask for nothing, only that we see them, respect them, and allow them to live.
The Miracle of a Seed
A seed is one of the greatest miracles on Earth – a tiny, silent universe holding the blueprint of forests, the memory of generations, and the hope of tomorrow.
Every seed planted is a prayer. A promise that life will continue. When we plant a tree, we give the Earth a second chance – and we give ourselves one too.
Imagine a world where every person plants one tree with love and care. Imagine what that would mean for The Tree People, for the soil, for the air, for the soul of humanity itself.
Open Your Eyes
It is time for us to open our eyes – and our hearts – to see The Tree People. To see them as living beings, each with a spirit, each with a role, each deserving of life.
May we learn to look at trees and see faces, hold their hands, and listen to their whispers in the wind. May we nourish their roots, protect their hearts, and remember that they too feel, breathe, and belong.
A planet without green is a planet lost. But every tree planted, every forest protected, every seed cherished brings the world back to life.
Let us be the generation that finally learns to see.
Open your eyes to see The Tree People.
